C++ is a general-purpose programming language that has become popular for desktop, server and embedded applications. C++ began as a low-level (machine language) extension to the C programming language; however, later it became a separate language designed for more rapid application development on multi-processor computers. That’s why today C++ is still widely used by application developers and web designers around the world. First of all, it is one of the most widely used programming languages for real applications. Another advantage of C++ is that it has powerful garbage collector and supports multiple platforms. This means that you can write code once and compile it on many different environments i.e., Windows 32/64-bit, Android, iOS, Mac OSx (X86 64 bit), Linux and even embedded devices such as Raspberry Pi. On windows platform there are at least three popular compilers: Microsoft Visual C++ (MVC), GCC & MSVC++. The first two are free while MSVC is owned by Microsoft Corporation (MSRC) but every version after 7 has been open source as well
